TEN THINGS YOU CAN NOT FORGET ON YOUR NEXT CAMPING TRIP

Whether you’re venturing out into the wild to camp atop a mountain, or dancing your way to a camping music festival, here are ten things you cannot forget in your triumphant pursuits. Get outside this summer and go camping at the many nearby locations including: Ricketts Glen State Park with a trail that follows along 22 named waterfalls, Wolf Rocks--part of the PA Appalachian Trail, and the Delaware Water Gap which has some amazing vistas to gaze out from. If you’re looking to see some live music along the way, checkout camping festivals like The Hudson Music Project, Gathering of the Vibes, or Peach Music Festival.
Where ever you decide to “light your fire”, here are some packing suggestions to help you have the most enjoyable experience possible:
  1.   Hiking Pack - the Patagonia Ascensionist pack is a perfect bag for an overnight camping trip. It comes in a variety of colors and fits just enough so you’re not tempted to over pack, but no essentials will be left behind.
  2. Stuff Sack – Wrap everything up in the “stuff sack” to keep your belongings dry and fresh when you run into those unexpected summer showers. We have Outdoor Research 10, 15 and 20 liter bags.
  3.   Leatherman Multi Tool – For all of those manly (or womanly) tasks you take on out in the wild, the Leatherman Multi Tool pocket knife is perfect for putting your skills to the test. Hunt some animals, cut some ropes, prepare good food, and protect yourself against any lurking predators…You never know when Big Foot may make his next appearance!
  4.  Outdoor Research Sunhat – Enjoy the shady offerings of the OR Sunhat. Spare your skin and keep those pesky bugs out of your eyes. Nothing is getting in your way this trip!
  5. Camelback Water Bottle – The most important thing you can do for yourself is stay hydrated. Keep that water cool and BPA free with one of our many Camelback water bottles.
  6.  Insect Repelling Buff – Sweet skin? Tie this baby around your head or neck and worry about bugs no more!
  7. Garmin Watch – Time flies when you’re having fun--especially in the woods. Quit saying it’s half past a freckle, get a watch.
  8.  Sunglasses – Keep your eyes on the path ahead as you sport a nifty pair of shades. Come in to check out our variety of Smith and Maui Jim sun glasses.
  9. Smartwool Socks – When in doubt, don’t forget the Smartwool. Great for keeping your feet dry, fresh smelling, and blister-free.
  10.  Handmade mugs – Last but certainly not least, snuggle up in front of the fire with some hot tea in a beautifully handmade mug, made by the local artist T.E. Forester. Cheers to summer fun!

T.E. Foerster Handmade Mugs

Out There Outfitters is proud to be supporting local ceramicist, Eliot Foerster. He is a young ceramicist who grew up in Newtown Square, PA and now lives in South Philadelphia. Eliot studied art at Colby Sawyer College in NH and has also taken classes at the Wayne Art Studio and Penland School of Crafts. He is also an active member of the Wayne community--he runs the kilns at Wayne's Color Me Mine and works at The Wayne Art Center. Eliot is the older brother of OTO employee, Elise Foerster. As a small family run business, we are happy to include his pieces at our shop and wish him much success!

We are currently selling Eliot's beautiful, dusk blue, mugs. They are both aesthetically pleasing and  comfortable to hold. He has mixed the glaze himself to create many unique shades of blue. He also dug his own clay from a local apple orchard. Eliot says, "It is important to me to take part in as many aspects of the creation process as I can."

So come on in and check out Eliot's awesome mugs! They are perfect for enjoying hot drinks as this winter weather continues into the spring and would make a great Mother's Day(May 11th) gift! We also invite you to like Eliot's new official facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/tefoersterceramics

Horny Toad Rotating Stock Program

Here at Out There Outfitters we are happy to welcome SPRING!!! We have finally received at least the first shipment of spring attire from all of our favorite brands. The shop is now bursting with color!

A store favorite for casual summer styles is of course, Horny Toad. This season they had so many great looks that we could not even fit everything in the store! Thus, we would like to introduce you to the Horny Toad Rotating Stock Program. This means that select styles form Horny Toad will only be featured at OTO for a limited time. At the end of the allotted time period we will send these styles back to Horny Toad and receive new items. This will happen 3 more times before the end of the spring/summer season.

Right now we are featuring several different men's and women's styles. First, we have the Sundowner Pant in True Khaki. These light weight men's khakis are perfect for a summer night on the town! They have a drawstring inside the waistband to insure the best fit and comfort. We also have the men's Liftoff Shirt in Brenton Blue. This is an extremely breezy, long-sleeved organic cotton button down, perfect for layering over a tee or on its own. If you are into layering, that brings us to our last men's item, the Toad Roots Tee. We merchandised this tee under the Liftoff Shirt and it looks great, but you could also wear it on its own to display the awesome graphic on the back! The intricate tree design has a toad and the words "Horny Toad" hidden among the roots.

For women we have some stellar items as well! The women's Joyride Pant in Swamp Green is perfect for going from any adventure to whatever comes next. They have slim legs and just enough stretch to make these pants appropriate for any en devour. Next the Tankover in Paradise, which is like a deep coral. Coral is an extremely popular color for spring across the board. This tank top has elegant double straps on each side and a band around the waist to make this lose fit top more flattering. Finally, the the Souffle Hoddie in Smoke, is made of the same super soft, organic cotton, as the men's Liftoff Shirt. However, instead of a button down, it is a zippered hoodie. These pieces come together to make a very cute outfit!

So, if you are as excited about spring as we are, we hope you come in to check out all our new stuff. Also, make sure to ask us about our Horny Toad Rotating Stock Program. Currently, these pieces are displayed on our front table but that may not always be the case and there are lot's of great things you don't want to miss!

Europe's Most Beautiful Villages

Are you stick and tired of winter yet?  Even though it's only January our spring styles are going to start arriving this week, which makes us excited for the coming warmer weather.  If you don't have your summer vacation planned yet, take a look at this list of Europe's Most Beautiful Villages posted by Travel and Leisure.

If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of today's busy world, take a step back in time to these quaint little villages.  Here are some of our favorites:

Bibury, England
Europe's Most Beautiful Villages: Bibury, England

"The hilly Cotswold region is a designated “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” in southwestern England, and one of its loveliest villages is Bibury, where verdant meadows abut ancient stone cottages with steep pitched roofs. The River Coln, which bisects the village, teems with trout, but the most scenic area is Arlington Row, a lane of sepia-hued cottages built in the 17th century to house weavers from the nearby Arlington Mill."

Folegandros, Greece
Europe's Most Beautiful Villages: Folegandros, Greece

"Santorini’s streets sag with admirers, but on Folegandros, a nearby island in the Cyclades, you’ll find similar architecture—streets paved in slate, whitewashed buildings decorated with colorful flowers, the occasional Greek Orthodox church with a bright blue dome—without the crowds. For a secluded swim, trek to Katergo, a sheltered stretch of beach where gentle, emerald-blue waves lap the pebbly shore."

Reine, Norway
Europe's Most Beautiful Villages: Reine, Norway

"North of the Arctic Circle, Reine is a pretty fishing village in the Lofoten archipelago, an area of starkly beautiful Nordic wilderness, where sapphire bays punctuate fjords and mountains. Many of the bright red fishermen’s cabins (called rorbuer) have been converted into comfortable cottages for visitors that offer direct access to the Norwegian Sea. Settle in for a front-row view of the night sky and its mesmerizing entertainment, from summer’s midnight sun to winter’s northern lights."

Albarracín, Spain

Europe's Most Beautiful Villages: Albarracin, Spain

"A sliver of medieval Spain has been preserved within the fortified walls of this village, which is surrounded by the barren hills of the central Aragon region. Down Albarracín’s narrow alleys and winding lanes await ancient stone towers and ocher-hued castles and chapels. Towering above it all is a cathedral built in the region’s typical Mudéjar style with ornamental detailing rooted in Islamic art."

Gruyères, Switzerland

Europe's Most Beautiful Villages: Gruyeres, Switzerland

"Gruyères is famous for its namesake cheese, whose mild, nutty flavor melts so well in fondue. But few are familiar with the town itself, a medieval hamlet in the upper valley of the Saane River in western Switzerland. A wide, stone-paved street leads up to the magnificent 13th-century Gruyères Castle, with its imposing fortifications and expansive views of the surrounding Alpine foothills."
